Bolzano

Bolzano which is the Italian name, or Bozen the German name, is capital of Alto Adige province. The main square in Bolzano is called Piazza Walther which was named after a Tyrolean poet. Bolzano is a charming town where you can see beautiful gothic steeples and spires and appreciate the beauty of the duomo with its open bell tower and colored roof tiles. There is much to see including churches, monuments, and castles, one being the Castle Runkelstein. For those who enjoy fine wine, there are thirty wineries to be visited in the city of Bolzano.

One of the main events in Bolzano occurs in the spring. From the end of April to the begining of May, the Piazza Walther is decorated with numerous types of vibrant flowers. This is known as the Flower Market show.
